Taking out a thin blanket, curling up on my couch with some bowl of popcorn is something I regularly do during most summer nights.
That was the case until I made a very unfortunate discovery not long ago. A lot of preservatives and icky chemicals are normally included during the preparation of microwave popcorn. I have all along enjoyed my popcorn without knowing I was innocently taking something harmful to my health.
I was more than excited when I discovered that my favorite snack can be prepared with a safe way and at the same time maintain its delicious nature. Not only is the method cheap, it’s also an easy and quick way of preparing the snack. The technique only requires one to have melted butter and it’s so natural.
At a cheaper cost, you’re assured of getting yourself enough kernel to last you for a number of months. Whenever the kernels fail to pop, you have the option of reusing them the next time you to enjoy some.
I was hesitant to give it a try the first time I came across the technique but after realizing how brilliant it is the results were!
To enjoy your popcorn in a healthier, cheaper way, you’ll need to gather a few simple supplies: a jar of all-natural popcorn kernels, some butter, and a microwave-safe bowl and plate.
First, pour your kernels into your bowl. I didn’t measure for this batch, but I tend to use about 1/4 cup of kernels.
Next, grab your butter. I’m using 2 Tbsp. here, but you can use as much — or as little — as you prefer.
After that, place your microwave-safe plate on top of the bowl. Set the butter on top of the plate.
Set the whole caboodle in your microwave, then cook it for about 2:45 to 3 minutes (depending on your microwave’s wattage).
The plate not only allows air and heat to circulate within the bowl, but it prevents the kernels from wildly escaping.
When all your kernels are popped, carefully remove the dishes. (They’ll be pretty hot, so you might want to use oven mitts.) Your butter should be all melted, so drizzle it over your fresh popcorn.
Salt it to taste, maybe throw in a few M&Ms, and you’re ready for movie night! Will you be trying this out at home? Let us know below!
